My poster shows the number of years Israel has celebrated—78 years of independence. It also includes the word “Israel,” many blue and white stars like the colors of the Israeli flag, and a heart made with hands. For me, Israel is a strong and resilient nation. We all need to stay united in order to live in peace. I am very close to my uncles, my nephew, and all the members of my father’s family who live in Israel. My last visit to Israel was for my brother’s bar mitzvah last year. I have very strong ties to Israel because I was born there. The message I want to convey is one of unity and joy for Israel’s 78th anniversary. In class, we looked at many images of advertisements, postage stamps, and old greeting cards from the collections of the National Library of Israel.
